Director of Business Services

The Cheltenham School District is seeking a Director of Business Services to manage fiscal activities and operations and lead a team of administrative support professionals and professional staff in integrating business-related services with all district operations. Successful applicant must be knowledgeable in budget, financial planning and budget forecasting, cash management, federal and state reporting requirements related to school funding, fund accounting, bidding, negotiations, facilities, school construction, knowledgeable in child accounting, health care, insurance, PSERS retirement, grant management and reporting, technology applications for management, and auditing requirements. Responsibilities include payroll, employee benefits, purchasing, insurance, investments, accounting, oversight of cafeteria management, transportation, project management and leadership. Prior supervisory and accounting experience required. Experience in school business administration is required. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree, CPA, or evidence of advanced training in school business management is strongly preferred. Applicant must possess strong interpersonal skills, act with integrity, serve and contribute to the administrative team, and be able to lead a team in support of business office functions that enhance the academic, social emotional well-being, and the equity focus of the Cheltenham School District.

Cheltenham Township is a diverse, suburban community in Montgomery County, PA, which sits on the northwest border of the city of Philadelphia. Cheltenham Township is rich in diversity, acting as a microcosm of our country, full of people of different racial, religious, social, and economic backgrounds. Cheltenham School District serves a population of nearly 37,000 residents in its nine square miles. The District operates four K-4 elementary schools, one 5-6 elementary school, one 7-8 middle school, and one 9-12 high school, serving approximately 4,525 students. The district operates on a $121 million budget with a staff of over 700 employees.
