Director of Transportation

This Administrative (Act 93) position is anticipated to be available on or about May 20, 2021.

The primary function of this position is to direct the daily operations of the transportation department, which consists of approximately 160 vehicles and 150 employees, in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws, school district policies, collective bargaining agreements, administrative regulations, and authorized directives. Candidates must possess the required qualifications, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job in addition to providing current Act 34, Act 151 and FBI Clearances as required by the laws of Pennsylvania.

The following qualifications are required:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
2. Four (4) years transportation supervisory experience
3. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations regarding pupil transportation
4. Knowledge of Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) requirements for school bus drivers
5. Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License with S and P endorsements and L restriction removed
6. Current Act 34, Act 151 and FBI clearances as required by the laws of Pennsylvania; any other clearances that may be required by law
7. Excellent organizational skills and abilities
8. Demonstrates effective communication, organizational and administrative skills for collaborative and situational leadership responsibilities
9. Knowledge of current technology hardware/software as it pertains to the logistics of routing and monitoring transportation resources.
10. Understanding of and empathy for all school community stakeholders

The following additional qualifications are preferred:
1. Pennsylvania Certified School Business Specialist in related field
2. Experience as Third-Party CDL Coordinator

The Board and administration reserve the right to accept alternatives to the above qualifications, which they find reasonable and appropriate.

Twelve-(12) month position, with the salary established consistent with experience and ability, and approved by the Board of Education.
