Director of Operations

Qualifications:     

- Five (5) years experience in facilities operations preferably in public education.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as engineering, construction, or operations management.

- Previous supervisory experience with custodial, maintenance, and grounds personnel.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Description:

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community.  This position will be the district Director of Operations overseeing all district property, facilities, and operations staff for the district.  SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates. 

- Responsible for the supervision, oversight, and planning of all school district maintenance, grounds, and custodial services in order to maintain efficient, clean, and safe facilities.

- Supervise and direct overall operations of maintenance, custodial, and grounds programs; prepare and provide oversight of facilities' operating budget to ensure that all buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean, safe, and attractive environment for students, staff, and public.

- Perform personnel administration by administering procedures governing the selection, evaluation, promotion, discipline, and dismissal of maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel; implement district procedures and policies with department employees; and ensure that the distribution and scheduling of work, overtime assignments, and processing of timesheets are all carried out in an effective and efficient manner.

- Maintain regular communications with building principals regarding maintenance, custodial, and grounds functions; conduct annual joint evaluations of facilities with building principals; prioritize and process work orders and supervise distribution to appropriate staff; process requisition forms; interact with district personnel for scheduling functions within the buildings and on school grounds, and maintain all applicable records.

- Responsible for ordering and receiving materials and supplies and maintaining an inventory to ensure an ample amount is available to perform various tasks; obtain estimates for equipment purchases or replacement.

- Develop and implement an Annual and Five (10)-Year Capital Improvements Program through a continuous planning process with central administration and individual building administrators.

- Maintain communications with Internal and External Agencies; act as liaison with local, state, and federal agencies regarding scheduled projects, required approvals, and other mutual concerns; develop and maintain rapport with peers in neighboring school districts and municipalities, build and maintain good public relations with administration, faculty, staff and district residents.

- Manage the District key card and master key system and the computerized maintenance management system.

- Maintain availability around the clock in the event of an emergency.

- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term goals for the facilities' operations; preventative maintenance facility plans, and energy efficiency plans; serve on District committees; implement board policies and administrative rules for the facilities department.

- Administer facilities contracted services for the district; serve as project manager for larger contracted projects, working with architects and engineers in preparation for, and management of, projects to include maintenance of all files, blueprints, plans, contracts, and specifications pertaining to facilities operations.

- Serve as contact person/manager for all indoor air quality, asbestos management, and integrated pest management.

- Develop, implement, and maintain facilities training programs, to include current safety recommendations and mandates.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator or Superintendent.

Terms of employment:     

Full-time, 12-month position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Administrative Compensation Plan (Act 93).  Position to begin March 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
