Director of Facilities

Job Goal:  To maintain and oversee all School District operations to ensure facilities are safe, clean, and maintained in an efficient manner, plays a leadership role in facilities planning and management. Supervises Maintenance staff and Building Supervisors.

Essential Functions:

1.    Builds effective rapport with custodial and maintenance staff to maintain positive relationships.

2.    Possesses the ability to oversee building maintenance tasks and repair work orders throughout the district.

3.    Direct oversight of facility staff performing structural maintenance repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings. Manages evaluation of performance on an annual basis.

4.    Conducts regular evaluations of buildings to enforce proper preventative maintenance procedures for equipment, ensuring optimal operational conditions and safety standards are maintained.

5.    Recommends procurement of contracted services, supplies, materials, and equipment for the buildings & grounds department. Collaborates with vendors to explore new products and equipment beneficial for maintenance and custodial staff.

6.    Coordinates building and grounds department budget with business administration, implementing cost-effective measures in alignment with district policies.

7.    Collaborates with central administration and building administrators to plan and execute the Capital Improvement Program. Engages architects, engineers, and construction professionals for effective project planning and implementation.

8.    Acts as the "designated person" overseeing Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations on asbestos abatement and management. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets and upholds safety standards and governmental regulations.

9.    Manages the Energy Conservation Program and consults with utility companies. Oversees Waste Management Program, including recycling operations and hazardous materials disposal.

10.  Demonstrates ethical and professional conduct when interacting with students, parents, school personnel, and external agencies associated with the School District.

11.  Manages facility usage process in collaboration with athletics/activities office, serving as liaison with groups and organizations utilizing assigned buildings.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, facilities planning or similar course work

Work Experience: 10 plus years in facilities operations management

Driver’s License:  Valid Driver’s License Required
